Infographic: Iran's political system
Noone in the west has quite understood how Iran works. Not only is it unique in structure, but it is also in a constant state of fluctuation as every mullah and their mother struggles for power. Recent analysis shows a rise in power of the Revolutionary Guards which seems to be upsetting the established religious leaders.
Nicolas Rapp, art director of the Associated Press, simplifies the complex political structure of the Islamic Republic in this infographic. Unfortunately he omits the Revolutionary Guard Corps altogether, so think of them as being somewhere around the Supreme Leader and above media, justice, economics, and every other type of structure and system.
